When importing, you are required to comply with any import regulations as set out by your Government, including, but not limited to, regulations for controlled goods. Importing controlled goods into your country may require additional authorization or clearance. Below, we have listed some common controlled goods requirements that you may come across.
Please note: This is not an exhaustive list of all importing requirements. If you have questions, or are unsure if you meet the requirements to import goods, please consult a customs broker or legal counsel.
Importing Cosmetics into Spain
Retailers will be required to have Pharmacy Import Authorization (Declaración Responsable de Actividades de Importación (productos cosméticos)) to import cosmetics into Spain. If you do not have Pharmacy Import Authorization, you will need to apply for this prior to importing cosmetics into Spain. To apply, please click here.
Products that fall under the “Cosmetics” category, as defined by the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Products, will be subject to a pharmacy inspection upon entry. Please expect a fee of about €75 EUR for the inspection of your order. You may also be contacted by the customs broker or agent to complete the pharmacy inspection and to collect payment.
Importing Cosmetics into Italy
Products that fall under the “Cosmetics” category, as defined by the Italian customs authority, will be subject to a pharmacy inspection upon entry. Please expect a fee of about €140 EUR for the inspection of your order. You may also be contacted by the customs broker or agent to complete the pharmacy inspection and to collect payment.
Importing Food into Italy
Products that fall under the “Food” category, as defined by the Italian customs authority, will be subject to a pharmacy inspection upon entry. Please expect a fee of about €85 EUR for the inspection of your order. You may also be contacted by the customs broker or agent to complete the pharmacy inspection and to collect payment.
