Importing to Canada
If you are purchasing goods from brands on Go Wholesale that are based outside of your country, then you will need to import those goods. Here is some important information to keep in mind when importing goods to Canada.
Products purchased online and imported into Canada from the U.S. will be reviewed at Customs and will be subject to duties and taxes. We provide a duties & taxes estimate in your shopping cart using a trusted integration and will continue to build out this feature to perfect those estimated values!
Go Wholesale proactively provides the brands with the required commercial invoice paperwork at the fulfillment stage. Brands eligible to send goods with a USMCA exemption (formerly: NAFTA) are currently responsible for providing the appropriate Certification of Origin paperwork with the shipment when their products qualify.
If you already have a broker of record to clear your import shipments at the border, please notify the brand directly via Go Wholesale messaging system to coordinate having those details included on the package prior to the order being fulfilled to avoid any unexpected brokerage fees!
If no broker is on file, then FedEx or UPS will be expected to act as your broker. Please expect to provide your consent or "Power of Attorney" (POA) to the carrier to clear your package at the border, if contacted. More FedEx information is available here. UPS forms are available here. You may provide one-time authorization, global authorization for all shipments, or create an account with the carrier for additional flexibility.
Responsibility of the importer
Retailers on Go Wholesale are responsible for accepting all orders placed on the platform. If an order is refused upon arrival at the border, you will not be eligible for a refund.
You are required to comply with any import regulations as set out by the Government of Canada. Including, but not limited to, regulations for controlled goods, such as CFIA requirements. For more information on Canadian import permits and restrictions see here.
Go Wholesale is not responsible for any additional banking, taxes, customs, brokerage, carrier advancement, or conversion fees applied post-purchase as a result of importing goods from other countries.
